Introduction to the Renewable Energy Website
At the State College of Florida, the students in the Introduction to Renewable Energy Course (EVR3315) have been given the task of creating a website for students pursuing a career in an energy related field. The site contains videos, links and definitions to commonly used words in the energy industry. The website also provides general information and data related to renewable energy sources.
Thank you for visiting our website and we hope that you can benefit from the content and/or resources provided on the site.
Sincerely,
The State College of Florida Students & Instructor of EVR3315 – Spring 2015 Term

Why is Renewable Energy Important?
The main sources of energy, in the United States, are non-renewable fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas. Fossil fuels are finite resources that will eventually deplete and become expensive to harness. However, renewable energy sources such as solar and wind are continuously replenished and will never run out. Thus, as time progresses, it’s important to research, develop and implement technologies that harness renewable energy sources. Not only will it benefit the environment, our children’s children, jobs and the economy; but, it will also improve our energy security so America is not in a position like in the 1970s energy crisis.

About Renewable Energy
Renewable energy is energy that comes from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat.
Renewable energy replaces conventional fuels in four distinct areas: electricity generation, hot water/space heating, motor fuels, and "off grid" energy services.
The renewable energy methods differ across the United States.
